The Prickly Pear Cooking Classes was founded by instructor Deb Roberts to provide an opportunity to gather, learn and inspire. Her farm-to-table philosophy and background in the Slow Food Movement are reflected in her recipes, instruction and even in her approach to life. Deb’s focus upon the fundamentals encourages student creativity without over-dependence upon formal recipes.

“Born to master gardener and accomplished cook, I grew up in an environment that valued principles of homesteading, home economics and Community Supported Agriculture (CSA’s) and what we now have come to associate with “farm-to-table philosophy.”

“Consequently, my teaching is centered around traditional techniques, classical dishes and farm fresh ingredients presented in an elevated, stylized approach. My menus are gathering-focused, supper-club conceptualized and family friendly. The core of my curriculum is duplicatable or easily modified for production in a student’s home kitchen.”

Deb, along with her husband Mike—sous chef and prep extraordinaire, pull together their years of experience in cooking and entertaining to bring you a fully immersive experience you will not soon forget.

Deborah Roberts is a national grand-prize recipe winner, published recipe and food contributor, caterer, wife, mom and farmer’s daughter.

Michael Roberts is life-time entrepreneur, business owner, vacation rental host, contractor, and proud husband and father.
